i wish my mom wasn’t an alcoholic

Sad to see that you do not have a ‘healing’ understanding of addiction. With 31 years of sobreity under my belt I can knowledgeably tell you that this Mom TRULY loves her daughter and did the right thing.

While “tough love” works it walks a fine line. You can do the right thing and still fail miserably at helping the addict. Don’t just trust you gut instincts, talk to professionals that deal with addicts daily. Many of the professionals are former addicts and can give you advice and help beyond your own capabilities. This is a beautiful story of people communicating and working through a horrific problem. Never judge an addict too quickly…

i call it like i see it-thats what the comment section is for.anybody with a real story would agree.also-i cant see profiting from it-although i have spent my own time and efforts helping others.stories much worse than this are a dime a dozen anyway.

The Mother was wide awake, this was the only thing she could do to help her daughter. I’ve been there, my son has been there, believe me this mother is very courageous, it takes a lot for a Mum to do this.

This Mom gets me so fucking mad because she closes the door on her. that just makes her think that no one gives a shit about her and shell start her addiction again with no care.
If i was the mom or dad, i will never let my darter or son go out in the street like she did with suffer of addiction. I will never ever let my kids go out and sell there body over drugs. That is the most sickest thing that a parent can do.
Drugs are health problems, not criminal problems. Wake Up

Mom never stopped loving her, but had to let her go.
Hard to detach, that hurts the most.

This video is full of it because it depends on the individual person!
Not everyone will respond! Unfortunately some will succumb!
I hate my job! people ask me why I look so mean! They laid off our 4 hour person at work! I know I will be one of the people who does not respond because nobody wants to help HIV positive people

I glad for her but god-this book is for oprah and rich woman who need a good cry or people who have never dealt with addiction.I think my story aint much compared to some and that made it hard for me in the begging comparing myself to others and saying-maybe i aint that bad.But my story would blow this out of the water.I wish i came from a great home-had insurence or money to get treatment and got sober 15 years earlier than i did.I should write a book and speak fucked up family in tow.

Thank you for sharing your powerful story of the true nature of this family illness. Constance Curry is one amazing woman who had the courage to detach with love and ultimately gave her daughter the gift of true love without loving her to death

yo lildebmurphy, just cuz you come from parents with money don’t mean you were happy. my parents had money and i hated my life and almost got myself killed on accident several times cuz of the stupid shit i did to cope with it. now i have been making minimum wage for over 9 years in a row while raising a son and daughter and i have been never happier and so lucky in my life

truth is there’s no such thing as alcoholism/addiction. so-called alcoholic drinking/using is just one expression of a compulsive personality. the key to lasting and satisfying recovery, therefore, isn’t simply to stop drinking and using but, rather, to move beyond the entire compulsive lifestye. takes more work than your typical recovery program but well worth it in the end. anything short of this will leave you struggling with depression and anxiety, as well as relapse.
